William Campbell was baptized by Sylvester Campbell and Helen Mason on 26 March 1819 in Drumoak, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

Based on reportings of age at various times during his life, this researcher believes that the actual birth date for William Campbell occurred one or two months previous, probably in January or February of 1819.


Birth and Baptism of William Campbell

The 1841 Census of Scotland shows William Campbell still residing with the family of Sylvester Campbell and Helen Mason at Udny, together with brothers Sylvester, Adam Corbet, George and David and sisters Isabel, Helen and Margaret. Two older siblings, Alexander and Jean are not at home on census day. William, probably joined by Adam Corbet, Isabel and Helen, will depart within a year or two to emigrate to Ontario, Canada where he will live out the remainder of his life.
