in search of ... William Campbell (1861)
The 1861 Census of Canada West shows William Campbell (43) - family surname is incorrectly spelled "Camell" - still living at Cold Springs in Hamilton Township together with Isabella Campbell (27), William Campbell (13), Sylvester Campbell (11), Sarah A. Campbell (4) and David S. Campbell (2).
The Campbell family is split across two census pages in the 1861 Census of Canada West. Also shown on the first page is the original family of Isabella Jane (Sidey) Campbell, including her parents David Sidey and Ann (Suter/Souter) Sidey. This may suggest that William Campbell really did marry "the girl next door" when he married his second wife, Isabella Jane Sidey.
